In 1956 the LaVane family, Ed, Elizabeth and their son Brian started out in the coin business with a company called Coin Associates. We did mail order, mail auctions and most major east coast and central states coin shows.
Elizabeth LaVane was one of the country's first full time woman Coin Dealers. In the early 1960’s we had a space at the Paramus Coin Exchange. In 1964 an existing stamp store in Huntington, NY became available as the owner was retiring and Huntington Stamp & Coin Shop, Inc. was formed. We continued doing major coin and stamp shows and ran a full time retail store.
In July of 1970 we ran our first Public Stamp Auction, which lasted thru 1999 having 151 sales selling many millions of dollars of Classic Stamps.
Through the 1960 and 1970’s we exhibited and sat on the committees of many shows winning many awards (see photo).
In 1981 thru 1991 Brian became a consultant for the Philatelic Foundation Expertising Committee. During this period, I wrote several articles for the “PF’s” and “Opinions” books. We introduced our third generation of family into the business specializing in Internet sales and Marketing.
For over 54 years, we have maintained that Old Fashioned Stamp and Coin Store Philosophy catering to both the beginner to advanced collector. Let our many years of expertise and service work for you.
